Frequency and symbol rate

In satellite installation, frequency refers to the specific electromagnetic frequency at which a satellite transmits or receives signals. It is usually expressed in megahertz (MHz) or gigahertz (GHz).

Symbol rate, on the other hand, refers to the number of symbols transmitted per second over a communication channel. It is measured in baud or symbols per second (sps). The symbol rate is related to the data rate of the transmission as well as the modulation scheme used to encode the data.

In general, the frequency and symbol rate are important parameters to consider when setting up a satellite receiver or transmitter. The correct values for these parameters must be used in order to properly receive or transmit signals from the satellite.
